Build / Fintech & Payments
Money that arrives, and books that balance.
Ledgers, escrow, settlement and reconciliation — the parts of a financial product where being approximately right is the same as being wrong.
Start a projectThe ledger drifts
Balances that disagree with the payment provider, and no reliable way to find out when they started disagreeing.
Money gets stuck
Funds held between accounts with no clear owner, no timeout and no path to resolution when a transfer half-fails.
Compliance was bolted on
KYC added after launch, sitting beside the flow rather than inside it, and quietly killing conversion.
What we do
- 01Double-entry ledger designAn append-only record that can be replayed, audited and proven.
- 02Escrow and settlement flowsHold, release, partial release and dispute — with every state transition explicit.
- 03Multi-currency and FXFiat and stablecoin balances, conversion boundaries, and rounding you can defend.
- 04Payout rails and mobile moneyBank and mobile-money integration, including M-Pesa STK Push, with retry and idempotency.
- 05ReconciliationAutomated matching against provider statements, and a workflow for what does not match.
- 06KYC and AML postureIdentity and screening inside the flow rather than beside it.
How we work
- 01
Brief
1 week
The money flow, drawn end to end, including every failure path.
- 02
Model
2 weeks
Ledger schema, state machine and invariants agreed before code.
- 03
Build
8–20 weeks
Implemented against a property-tested ledger core.
- 04
Run
Ongoing
Reconciliation monitored; drift raised as an incident, not a ticket.
Housing Initiative
- The challenge
- Property transactions spanning several currencies, with deposits that must be held and released against contractual conditions.
- The approach
- A multi-currency ledger covering fiat and stablecoin balances, escrow settlement tied to digital lease execution, and portfolio-level yield tracking on top.
- The result
- Buying, renting and investing handled inside one ledger rather than reconciled across three systems.
Questions we get asked
Are you a licensed financial institution?
No. We build the software; you or your provider hold the licences and the funds. We are explicit about that boundary from the first conversation.
Can you work with our existing PSP?
Yes. Most of this work is integration and reconciliation against providers you have already chosen.
Do you handle crypto?
We have built multi-currency ledgers covering stablecoin balances alongside fiat. Custody is a decision we help you make rather than one we take on.
How do you test a ledger?
Property-based tests against the invariants — balances sum, no money is created, every transition is reversible in the record. Example-based tests alone do not catch what matters here.
What about audits?
The record is append-only and replayable, which is what an auditor actually wants. We will sit in those conversations with you.
